LYRICAL & CONTEMPORARY

Contemporary dance is an expressive style of dance that abandons the rigid, centered aspect of classical forms of dance, and utilizes unconventional movements from styles around the world. It incorporates certain elements of ballet, modern dance, and jazz.

Contemporary is typically abstract, unpredictable and unique, creating and outlet for complete artistic expression.

 

Lyrical dance also draws upon classical ballet technique as a foundation, and modern/jazz at a slower pace, and more fluid movement. Lyrical dance has an emphasis on interpreting the lyrics from music and brining out the emotion.

 

Our contemporary and lyrical classes are a part of our competitive troupe work and we also offer open classes in each.
